Charlie Sheen wants to stop paying ex child support

People in Tennessee might be interested to hear that Charlie Sheen made a legal move to attempt to stop paying his ex, Brooke Mueller, $55,000 per month in child support. Sheen requested that the court remove his court order to pay child support to his ex after her drug relapse. She was admitted to a hospital for her drug relapse, which was followed by rehab.

Social workers took the twins from Mueller's home in early May and placed them with Sheen's other ex-wife, Denise Richards. He also pays $55,000 a month in child support to her for the care of their two daughters. Sheen admitted that he has the means to pay any reasonable amount of child support, but he stated that using the regular child support formulas would result in an amount that exceeds the amount of reasonable care that his twin boys need when they are in Mueller's care.

Sheen went on to cite the case of Jon Cryer, who made a request to have his child support reduced in 2009 and won. Cyrer had been paying his ex-wife $10,000 a month for the support of their son, but after his ex was arrested for alleged child abuse, he got that amount reduced to $8,000. Sheen also says that he pays the taxes, insurance and mortgage on the house where Mueller lives and that he will continue to do so.

Tennessee parents who are ordered to pay child support and want to get their orders modified might benefit from the services of a family law attorney. Family law attorneys might be able to help parents to present their arguments and cite similar cases where judges ruled in the claimants' favor.
